This month in BE Healthy I want to warn you about a chemical that I think may have contributed to, if not caused, my Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (NHL)- glyphosate. Glyphosate is the main ingredient in the popular weed-killer Roundup and is used on food crops all over the world. It’s a proven carcinogen specifically linked to NHL, but it has also been associated with kidney disease, reproductive problems, liver damage, and birth defects. Unfortunately, for me my dad was an avid landscaper and gardener who used Roundup to maintain his pristine yard. Also unfortunately for me, we had well water - meaning the roundup could seep down into our water supply. I was a great eater as a kid…eating all the freshly picked vegetables from his garden and drinking lots of water. I can’t prove that is why I developed NHL, but feel certain that it’s at least partially responsible.

So, in addition to finding an all-natural weed killer for your lawn, take a look at the following list of foods that were found to have some level of glyphosate in them. Spoiler alert: Those of you that are Cheerios fans are not going to be happy. Anyway, next time you are at the food store, think of me and make your selections carefully!

BE Healthy my friends ❤️!

Thanks for posting this Jen - although it would be logical that something like Roundup weed killer would be harmful, I wouldn't have known about all the foods you listed. I will learn from your example! So thankful that you are in good health and I continue to be impressed with your blog!
